HHH Celebrates Board of Ed Recognition Week

Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared Oct. 31-Nov. 4 as a week to recognize the work of school leaders.

The Half Hollow Hills School District celebrated its board of education members during its monthly meeting as Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared the week of Oct. 31-Nov. 4 as School Board Recognition Week.

"The men and women serving as members of school boards are dedicated to children, learning and community, and devote many hours to service elementary and secondary public education as they continually strive for improvement, excellence and progress in education," the governor wrote in his official proclamation.

At the Oct. 17 Board of Education meeting at , Superintendent Kelly Fallon recognized the district’s members including President Jeannine Bottenus, Vice President James Ptucha, Trustees Diana Acampora, Betty DeSabato, Eric Geringwald, Frank Grimaldi and Paul Peller.

The meeting opened with senior Lexi Martin singing The National Anthem. Hills West Principal welcomed all, and introduced a group of student violinists who performed for the board. Several students spoke about how the work of the board has impacted their experience as Half Hollow Hills students and thanked the members for their service.
