Photo of the Day: In 1492...

Signal Hill Elementary students learn about the voyage to the Americas.

The youngest explorers of in with teachers Nancy Groudas and Kim Leace learn about Christopher Columbus' arrival in the Americas.

The actual historic date was recorded on Oct. 12, 1492, but the holiday is celebrated the second Monday in October each year.

In class, the students learned about the explorer's three ships: the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria.
