Teams of young robot wizards from around the area will compete Saturday in an all-day test of their skills and creativity.
Half Hollow Hills West High School will host the invitational. Students will program their robots to compete on a 27-by-54-foot playing field with bridges, attempting to earn points by scoring as many basketballs into the hoops as possible. Extra points will be earned for balancing robots on the bridges.
They will use robots they built for a competition at Hofstra in April.
Saturday's competition will run from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at HHH West, 375 Wolf Hill Road, Dix Hills.
The Half Hollow Hills district hosted a visit by Rex the Bionic Man and his creator, Rich Walker, in October at HHH East.
