Repairs Being Made To Storm Damage At HS West

Insurance to cover the $62K needed by school to fix equipment.

An early October storm that rolled through the community is having some lingering effects at Half Hollow Hills West High School. The board of education reported this week that the school sustained $62,000 in damage from the storm.

The list of damage is broad and includes:

  • Four sets of short bleachers (five-seat bleachers) destroyed beyond repair;
  • Several soccer poles were bent and their footings broken;
  • A pair of soccer goals (8' by 24'); one portable soccer platform and aluminum coaches' stand;
  • The tennis court fence was bent over (300' of fence--footings cracked on the surface of court);
  • Windscreens at the tennis courts damaged (the eyelets were ripped out and cannot zip the tie);
  • Time master clock was damaged because of a power outage and power surge;
  • One 7E101 Kwikgoal backstop system.
  • And large divots on the field caused by bleachers tumbling across the field.

School board trustees noted that the school district insurance will be covering the cost of repairing and replacement all equipment damaged.
