Whiz Kid: Alyssa Bitsimis

High School West senior signs letter of intent to play softball at La Salle University.

This week's Whiz Kid honor goes to High School West senior Alyssa Bitsimis. 

Alyssa recently signed a letter of intent to play softball at La Salle University in Philadelphia, where she plans on majoring in digital media/communications.

A five-year varsity starter for Hills West, Alyssa has lead the Lady Colts to an 8-1 record so far this season. On Tuesday, she threw her fourth straight shutout in a 11-1 win over Newfield.

Alyssa's accomplishments could fill a book: she's been named all-county, all-league twice, she's a three-time team MVP, a three-year captain and she recently recorded her 50th varsity win as the starting pitcher.

Currently, she plays for the Long Island Bandits 18U Gold Travel Team and previously played for the Long Island Crush for six years. In addition, Alyssa was a four-year varsity volleyball player, and was named to the all-county tournament team and all-league this year.

Alyssa will graduate with 14 (yes, 14) varsity letters, having also been on the Hills varsity gymnastics team, the Hills West winter track team and the manager of the Hills West boys basketball team.
