Abidin Vies for County Title at 125 Pounds

Hills East's only wrestler has had easy path so far.

won big on the first day of the Division I Suffolk County wrestling championships.

The 125-pounder from earned a 16-1 tech fall over North Babylon’s Nick Dominisch, and a 12-0 major decision against Miller Place’s John Steiger.

Next up for Abidin is Brentwood’s Alex Gomez in the semifinals, Monday at Stony Brook University.

Tommy Shair, wrestling at 160, won his first match, then lost to Connetquot’s Nick LoBue, 11-2, in the second round.

Tyler Grimaldi lost to Longwood’s Nick Hall, 6-0, in the second round at 145. Michael Quinn was pinned by Kings Park’s Greg Martin in 3:32 during their second-round 285-pound bout.
