Colts Crush Bellport 69-6

Hills West wrestling dominates in its first league match.

The Colts completely dominated the Bellport Clippers last night winning 14 of 15 matches.  Colt grapplers put the match away with a flurry of five straight pins midway through the match.
Sophomore Joe Piccolo, sophomore Jagger Rebozo, senior Chris Golinowski, junior Trevon Barrett and senior Michael Quinn consecutively pinned their opponents.
The Colts also scored major decisions (eight-point victories) by sophomore Chris Reilly, sophomore Tyler Grimaldi and senior Alec Levine.

Hero:  Freshman Austin Rutella proved once again that the Colts would not be outworked.  In the match of the night, Rutella fell behind quickly.  Down 6-0 and looking like he was going to be overmatched, Rutella reached deep inside and began a comeback.  Quickly scoring on an escape and a takedown, Rutella was on the board.  Then after a near pinfall, he was in control.  Continuing to push the pace of the match, the 103 pounder nearly pinned his opponent two more times, finally winning the match 9-6.  What an awesome display by the young freshman.

The Quote:  Coach Patrovich once again cracked a smile and said, "The guys did a really good job tonight.  I think this is a great way to start the league portion of our schedule."  When asked about freshman Rutella, Patrovich said, "You know, he's a hard worker.  He is only going to get better.  I'm proud of the effort he displayed."

Bottom Line:  The Colts once again dominated their opponent.  Impressive victories thus far have been well deserved.  Let's see how things proceed as we get into the heart of the league matchups.

Next Up:  The Colts finally have a home match.  They will meet North Babylon this Friday at 6 p.m. at the Hills West gym.
