Dix Hills' DiMaria Drafted by MLL's Charlotte Hounds

Former Hills West star has the option of going pro following senior season at Harvard.

Harvard senior Daniel DiMaria of Dix Hills, a member of the university’s lacrosse team, was drafted by the Charlotte Hounds of Major League Lacrosse this past Friday in Philadelphia.

A graduate of Half Hollow Hills West, he is the fourth Harvard lacrosse player to be selected by the MLL.

“I thought I had a good chance [of getting drafted], but you never really know what’s going to happen with that, so I wasn’t sure. It turns out I was, and I’m really pumped about it,” DiMaria told The Back Page, the official sports blog of the Harvard Crimson.

A long stick defender, DiMaria played all 16 of Harvard’s games in 2011 leading the team with 56 ground balls and tying for the team lead with 13 forced turnovers. He was named to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association’s first team during his junior year.

During his high school career at Hills West, he was team captain during his senior season and in 2008 was named an Under Armour All-American. He was ranked number 16 in the national incoming freshman class that same year by Inside Lacrosse magazine.
