Alec's Run, sponsored by The Alec William Nelson Charitable Corporation, celebrates the life of Alec, a sixteen month old boy who was accidentally backed over by an SUV in his driveway by a grandparent that did not see him. They serve to educate people about the dangers that vehicles can pose to young children, especially the blind zone behind cars which can extend to the length of most driveways in some vehicles.
This race is held around the streets of Dix Hills on the fourth Saturday of April every year. In it's 8th year, this 4 mile race for runners and walkers will start at 9:30; a Children’s Fun Run, a one mile race, will begin at 9am.
Checks can also be made out to Alec’s Run, 999 Grand Blvd., Deer Park, NY.
