Knee Injury Fells Nitti

R.J. Nitti, star quarterback for Half Hollow Hills East, will miss the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury this past weekend in the team’s loss to Lindenhurst, Newsday reported.

His father, John, told Newsday that R.J. is also expected to miss the upcoming Hills East basketball season.

Hills West, East Tennis Titles

Zenat Rashidzada of Half Hollow Hills West and Allison Huber and Amanda Luper of Half Hollow Hills East won tennis championships for their respective schools.

Rashidzada won the singles title in three sets defeating Aimee Manfredo of Shoreham-Wading River 1-6, 6-3 and 6-2. Huber and Luper easily defeated the East Hampton duo of Daniella Dunphy and Gillian Neubert 6-0 and 6-2.

College Tennis

Half Hollow Hills West graduate Carly Siegel of Dix Hills played a key role in helping the Ithaca College women’s tennis team win the Empire 8 Championship, defeating Stevens Institute of Technology 5-0.

Ithaca posted three wins in doubles play. Siegel and her partner Allison Vizgaitis posted the team’s first win with an 8-6 victory. The team now moves on to the 2012 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championships.
