Huntington Sailor Navigates Olympics

St. Anthony's grad Erik Storck and USA teammate Trevor Moore compete in 49er class Olympic sailing at Weymouth, England.

The waters off Weymouth, England have seen an armada of Olympic sailors compete the last eight days, joslting for position and wind in a series of races to win gold and glory.

Among the flag-waving spinnakers and frothy blue waves is , 27, a and Dartmouth grad who learned to sail at Centerport Yacht Club.

Storck and teammate Trevor Moore compete in a men's 49er class sailboat for Team USA. The duo is 15th among 20 boats through 13 races Sunday. Just two races remain.

"On Sunday, the 49er fleet moves offshore for the only time of the regatta, onto the Weymouth Bay West Course," wrote father John Storck III on the sailors' website. "Conditions out there should be less shifty and more chop and waves. Boatspeed should be critical out on that course. Monday will bring them back to the exciting Nothe Course for the final two races of the regatta prior to the Medal Race. With potentially five races left, the boys are taking things one race at a time and remain psyched. We’ll all have to stay tuned to see how it finishes up."

Storck and Moore have had high points at the Olympics, winning race No. 4 and placing second in race No. 9. They've had four top 6 finishes but are out of medal contention.
