Olympic Gold Medalist Misty May-Treanor Instructs HHH Students

Jeremy and Kristina Manchenko among 150 youth volleyball players to attend clinic in Long Beach over the weekend.

Half Hollow Hills students Jeremy and Kristina Manchenko were among 150 youth volleyball players who attended three-time Olympic gold medalist Misty May-Treanor's volleyball clinic in Long Beach over the weekend.

The youngsters received two hours of instruction from May-Treanor followed by questions and answers during lunch and then an additional 1 and a half hours of instruction, culminating with autographs and photo opportunities.

Players were instructed on how to: "cut" the ball, focus on the ball, pass to the net, dive and use reflexes, serve and hitting.  Players asked questions such as :"Was it hard to communicate with players from other countries?"(wasn't hard because they learned the English language)  "Where did you go to college?"(California State University Long Beach) "How long did it take you to write your book?" (a year) "Who motivated you when you were younger?" (parents because they played volleyball)

It was fun to for the youth players to play volleyball with kids from all over Long Island and exciting for them to meet and work with an Olympic gold medalist.
