Registration Open for Hills West Basketball Clinics

Summer camp has helped produce more than one Colts superstar.

Four of the five starters on this year's Long Island winning Hills West basketball team were campers from a young age at the Hills West basketball clinics held each summer.

Now there's no guarantee your child will turn into the next if he attends the camp this summer, but Bill Mitaritonna, the head basketball coach at Hills West who runs the camp, is certainly proud of the clinics.

"Our camp has been running for the last nine years and what sets it apart from other camps/clinics is our attention to all of our campers individually," Mitaritonna said. "We create a positive and fun atmosphere of learning the game of basketball being taught by the Hills West coaching staff and its varsity players."

This year's clinics, open to boys in grades 2-12, will take place over two weeks in July. Campers can attend one or both weeks of the clinics, which run from 9 a.m.- noon July 11-15 and July 18-22. The cost to attend is $150 for one week or $275 for both weeks. The registration form can be found here.

Campers will get plenty of tips from the Hills West coaching staff, as well as current and former varsity players.

"We believe in having our varsity players teach the game to younger players," Mitaritonna said. "This becomes a positive learning experience for both involved."
