Top Long Island Summer Events of the Week

Sayville Summerfest, Feast of Saint Rocco and beach yoga are among the highlights.

As part of our 2012 Long Island Summer Guide, each Wednesday we're spotlighting the major beach and outdoor events coming up across the Island.

Here's what's on tap in the coming week:

Sayville Summerfest
Sayville's biggest community event of the year, Summerfest, kicks off Friday night at Gillette Park with arcade games, rides and live music. On Saturday and Sunday the downtown area is filled with vendors and food sellers, arts and craft booths and much more. Sunday there's a flyover by Bayport Aerodrome fliers and a classic car show. BeachYoga
BeachYoga is back on Long Beach on Sunday. It starts at 8 a.m. at West Broadway and Lindell Boulevard. Enter the beach using the Lindell Boulevard ramp. BeachYoga meets by the jetty close to the water. Please bring your beach towels/mats/sunscreen/sunglasses and yourselves, friends, partners, parents and children. Everyone's welcome: experienced yogis and beginners alike. All you need is an open heart. There's no cost for BeachYoga; donations aren't mandatory or necessary. Donations go to the to the Long Beach Waterfront Warriors. The Warriors support disabled veterans and their families from all over the country, flying them to Long Beach, providing housing, food and a fabulous beach vacation.
