Melville Foundation Pledges to Raise $100K for Children's Hospital

A benevolent branch of a local accounting firm will host spring benefit to support medical center.

A charitable foundation created by Nussbaum Yates Berg Klein Wolpow, LLP, a Melville accounting firm, said it will raise $100,000 in support of Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York, located in New Hyde Park.

The foundation's first move toward its goal is to host its spring benefit in the hospital's name.

The Spring Benefit, which is being held on June 5,  is an exclusive, gourmet four-course wine pairing dinner hosted by Executive Chef Tom Schaudel of  in Melville. Proceeds from the event will help to meet the foundation’s pledge to raise $100,000 to fund various projects at Cohen Children’s Medical Center.

As part of its commitment, funds will be used to construct and furnish a family room within the hospital. This space will allow the patients and their families the opportunity to escape their hospital rooms to a more private and comfortable setting.

“We are thrilled to be working with the Cohen Children’s Medical Center again in 2012,” said NYBKW Charitable Foundation President Barry Berg. “We are highly committed to raising the necessary funds to support this incredible hospital and the children of Long Island who need it most.”

The NYBKW Charitable Foundation will also continue supporting its Jordan Alex Dubrow (JAD) Fund, which will look to help the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) purchase a life-saving piece ofequipment. Last year, NYBKW helped Josh and Stacey Dubrow establish the JAD Fund in memory of their son, and in a matter of months they successfully raised over $50,000 for the NICU’s purchase of a Blood-Gas Analyzer Machine.

“We will forever be proud to honor Jordan’s legacy, and more importantly give the amazing doctors and nurses in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit the equipment they need to save the lives of many babies,” Josh Dubrow said.

Teaming with NYBKW to sponsor this event are: The Blau/Radler Group of UBS Financial Services; Carter, Deluca, Farrell & Schmidt LLP; Gennaro Jewelers; Jewel Restaurant & Lounge; Post Wine & Spirits and Sandata Technologies.

The NYBKW Charitable Foundation was founded as a registered 501(c)(3) charity several years ago after the partners and staff at NYBKW decided to formalize their relentless commitment to caring for others. The mission statement of the NYKBW Charitable Foundation is to improve the welfare of men, women, and children, especially on Long Island.
