The Week Ahead: Veteran Benefit Workshop, a Tribute to the Ladies of Motown

Here's what you need to know this week:

A veteran benefit workshop will be held at the Dix Hills branch of the library at 10 a.m. Monday. Presented by the Northport Veterans Hospital Eligibility officers will be available to evaluate and assist veterans in enrolling for health care through the VA if eligible as well as taking photos for VA ID cards. Blood pressure screening and mini-physical will be offered if eligible. Please bring a copy of your DD214. For more information call 631-498-1229.

A free prostate cancer support group, sponsored by Integrated Medical Foundation, meets Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at 532 Broadhollow Road in Melville. The groups are moderated by an oncology social worker and provide an opportunity for men (and their partners if desired) to share their experiences and to help them cope with diagnosis and treatment. Prostate cancer experts will speak at various meetings.  There will be a Q&A about Provenge at this support group. All are welcome! For further information and to register, call 631-247-0100 or email  info@IMFcares.org.  

Dr. K presents a Tribute to the Female Artists of Motown with his group REFLECTIONS, a seasoned array of talented musicians playing tribute to the female hitmakers of MOTOWN during a performance at the Dix Hills Hills Performing Arts Center on Friday at 7:30 p.m.  For info and to purchase tickets, click here

Pianist Stan Wiest will be talking at the Book Revue in Huntington at 7 p.m. Thursday and signing copies of his new CD, Music to Drive By.
