Rock for the Arts

The South Huntington Arts in Education Foundation is sponsoring "Rock for the Arts - A Night of Rock and Roll for the Entire Family" on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Whitman High School. The show supports district arts programs.

Classic Silent Film

St. John's Episcopal Church is hosting a special screening of the 1922 silent movie Nosferatu, Friday at 7 p.m.

Poetry Performance and Workshops

The Walt Whitman Birthplace offers its third annual Walking with Whitman: Poetry in Performance, hosted by Walt Whitman Birthplace writer-in-residence George Wallace. Ray McNiece with Pramila Venkateswaran are featured at the performance Saturday, which runs from 7 to 9 p.m. Workshops, Writing With Whitman, are scheduled from 3-5 p.m.

Wellness Fair at Half Hollow Hills East

HHH East will be the site of a wellness fair and 5k run Sunday. A family fun run starts at 9 a.m., with a 5k run at 9:30 a.m. The sixth annual fair opens at 9 a.. and continues until 1 p.m. The fair will offer health screenings, demonstrations, food, raffles and more.

NORTHPORT

Opera Night Long Island

Enjoy a night of opera Friday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church (270 Main Street, Northport), starting at 7:30 p.m.

Heirloom Antiques Weekend

During Northport Historical Society's "Antiques & Art Discovery Day" Nov. 2, Antiques Roadshow's Lark Mason, Litchfield County Auctions' Weston Thorn, and South Bay Auctions' Jean-Paul Napoli will evaluate one or two of your valued treasures. This event will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Northport Village Hall, 224 Main Street. Items will be evaluated at a cost of $25 each. Those interested in getting an appraisal are encouraged to contact the Historical Society at 631-757-9859 to reserve a spot within a specific time block. Participants with reservations will be given priority; all others will be seen as time allows on a first come, first served basis.

The Minstrel Players Present Agatha Christie's "The Mousetrap"

Northport’s oldest Theatre group, The Minstrel Players will be performing the longest running show in London Theater history with their first-time staging of Agatha Christie’s classic murder-mystery The Mousetrap.  They are coming off their successful second all-original One Act Play Festival this summer --- IT HAPPENED ONE ACT II.  Performances will be Nov. 2 at 8 p.m. and 3 p.m. A Matinee performance will be held Nov. 3 at Houghton Hall - Trinity Episcopal Church, 130 Main Street in scenic Northport Village.
