Two idiots ? I'm sure you'd go down to west philly and have the balls to walk past them and callRead More them idiots. And about 2 seconds later they'd knock your teeth out with the night sticks they were carrying.
Sean April 24, 2014 at 01:09 pm
People get angry at this but it's OK for 100 illegals to gather at storefronts on Horseblock Road.

FREE SPEECH, our 1st AMENDMENT RIGHT is a Constitutional right earned by our Fore Fathers and ForeRead More Mothers and relinquished to All Americans. To bad Benicia Patch doesn't feel this way. I'M APPALLED AT HOW THEY CENSORED and BANNED THE BLACK PANTHER OF POETRY FROM SPEAKING ON THIS RAG!!! "If the specter of whistle-bearing block captains roaming the streets dressed in (reflective?) white sheets is a cure worse than the illness, residents have little recourse. Courts have consistently recognized the KKK’s right to free speech".

Thank you Alison I was thinking the same thing....
South Side High School in Rockville Centre is among the best on Long Island, according to new rankings. (Patch file photo)

Public HS is open to all regardless of disability, academics or ability to pay,Catholic schools areRead More not required, therefore they exclude those children in need. The teachings of Christ do not exclude.... This is very surprising to me because the foundations of Catholic schools are based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. I can never see my Lord turn away needy children who require our help.
Grace Jones April 24, 2014 at 01:21 pm
Shocking that Commack High School did not make the top 154 in NYS (only the top 154 High Schools areRead More listed once you click on the link) Maybe if some parents showed more interest in Academics than in Sports well maybe the school would get a better rating.
Lorraine DeVita April 24, 2014 at 01:24 pm
WHY are you getting into a religious discussion here? . Because quite frankly there is a LitanyRead More of ills one can place at the foot of the Churches doors when it comes to Poverty Wealth and EXCLUSION that even the new JESUIT POPE agrees need to be addressed. This article is about a list of schools, NOT Catholic Schools but PUBLIC HS SCHOOLS on Long Island that have been ranked nationally for their academic excellence... Sadly for all the self proclaimed accolades , back patting, and ballyhooing made by many SD's on LI the fact remains only 14 LI schools made the list. NOW taxpayers and parents alike should be asking WHY rather than make excuses.

I can guarantee that he became erect and ejaculated when he killed the young lady. This wasRead More something he was enjoying! And to all the posters who comment that it was justified, you are the same as this sick old man.

Oh, so a guy who leaves the safety of his home to hunt down, effectively, another teenager withRead More marketing in the press that is not necessarily "homecoming king" adjacent deserves to be shot. Wow. At least, I do mean at the very least, this man was defending himself in his home. These teens came to him, in his home. Zimmerman had to walk a while toward the "danger" and in so doing instigated a situation that turned deadly.
mystuy April 24, 2014 at 01:12 pm
Saint Trayvon? Really? But it is okay to make two teens who deliberately broke the law by enteringRead More uninvited and violating someone's home seem, well, not so bad...just homecoming king and queen-worthy kids just having a bit of mischief until that mean old grumpy man killed them. Pretty "saintly" handling by the media in that instance. So undeserved and so unfortunate the entire mess.

I guess this is a start although DWI's will continue because the penalties are not stiff enough toRead More deter people from doing this simple because they feel that they will chance it and get away with it.
Sean April 24, 2014 at 12:59 pm
Alot of OT involved in each of those arrests , how heroic. These cops make an absurd amount of moneyRead More for what they do. SCPD have no police presence on the Island and are not pro - active nor community friendly. Hide in the local fire departments and collect your $150,000.

When asked exactly what she has accomplished during her stint as a carpetbagger Senator & ourRead More least "carbon neutral" Secretary of State, Madame Clinton responded "what difference, at this point, does it make?" That was after she was fired from the Watergate investigation for lying, and after she attacked every woman who was sexually assaulted by her philandering husband, and after she whispered into Sean Smith's & Ty Wood's parents' ears "don't worry, I'll personally make sure we arrest the man responsible for that despicable video." I'm sure I'll be called a "war on women" hating misogynist by the Libiots too enraged to notice I'm a woman & who are so intellectually dishonest they refuse to admit the real misogynist is Bill CLinton. But hey, as long as the boot licking Main Stream Media still drools over Killary, what difference does it make?
Michael Hipp April 24, 2014 at 01:34 pm
Hey Amy RLB, whatever that means, why are you talking about all .. what did you call them.....Read More libiots..... when there is only one person in this entire discussion that called anybody a woman hater? Do you have a problem with dealing with this single discussion thread, must you broaden the discussion to everybody? All libiots aren't here to defend themselves. The one person that call you republicant's woman haters is here and can defend their remarks. Just a thought.

this "to me" is not funny, the swat teams are used for serious issues, hostage taking,Read More etc. to have a swat team called to a home behind a video game is stupid, these swat members are trained to save lives, etc. to be called to a home behind a video game is not funny, what happens if a REAL call comes in and swat is needed there, I hope they catch the idiot that called swat and he gets what he/she deserves

Hmmm . . . I keep hearing paranoia from left and right, but how are we to truly evaluate theRead More education we are paying for? Like so many issues that confront us today, there is no light; only heat. No method will be perfect. And, no disrespect intended, but I'm not sure parents are best situated to evaluate the efficacy of their children's education. After all, most were products of the very system we so desperately need to improve. We need SOME objective measure. Any ideas?
The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld Michigan's ban on affirmative action in college admissions.

You cannot offer education to any person who has not had the foundation of paternal guidanceRead More beginning at birth. The maturation of the human entity revolves around initial care as an infant which means communication both oral and by tactile sensation. NURSING an infant is one of the MOST importatnt things that may be offered as a beginning point. Any amount of the process is good, but continuing for the better part of a year is best. TALKING to the infant is also paramount in awakening the receptiveness of the brain as the eyes develop and begin to truly see. Show and demonstrate any and all things. And continue through the pre-teen years. When ANY child is prepared in these ways he or she will be READY to begin secondary schooling and on into the college level and become a resposible, productive AMERICAN. Do as I did. Finish high school. Go to college & get a degree (I paid for myself). Be RESPONSIBLE for yourself. AND Be a GOOD PARENT.. PEPARE your child. THAT is YOUR JOB!!! And THANKS to my parents!!! Everyday Mathematics is just one of the programs that makes a heck of a lot of $ off of the millions of textbooks sold to schools that teach to the 'Core.' The Common Core isn't just restricting for teachers & students, it's lining people's pockets.

Netflix is hands down the best deal going, and it has been a bargain for YEARS. I guess theRead More nonsensical whiners who complain about a long-delayed, $2 a MONTH increase are worried it will cost them a (partial) SINGLE LATTE. Utterly ridiculous.

FOR THOSE WHO LIKE AMAZON PRIME OVER NETFLIX: Here's an interesting article from today (23 Apr 2014)Read More about how Amazon Prime just got HBO to stream at least some of its older content, plus "HBO GO," to Amazon's new Fire TV box, thereby making NetFlix upset because NetFlix (nor any other streaming service, including HULU) has never been able to get any HBO content; and so Amazon has scored a real coup! Should plastic bags be a thing of the past?
CAPICU April 23, 2014 at 03:39 pm
Oh oh ...The bag lady is back
Frank Esposito April 23, 2014 at 07:23 pm
Keep up the good fight Lorraine! If this CAPICU joker lived though the attack of plastic bags that IRead More just survived he would be your number one fan. California is always on the cutting edge of what is great about America. I want NYS to be just like them. Death to the plastic bags! I've received a few painful paper cuts in my life; and while plastic bags have not cut me yet I do fear them greatly. One of my greatest fears is I will get one without the printed warning about not placing it over my head. I usually ask for paper and risk the paper cuts; there is no coming back from suffocation by plastic bag. Although prolonged lack of air hasn't seemed to have affected you greatly. You go girl!
Ron Gilone April 23, 2014 at 08:48 pm

Sorry, Autistic boy, but there are a multitude of crimes here. These so called 'friends' abused youRead More terribly ~ called 'bullying', & that alone cannot be tolerated. Then, there is animal cruelty involved, another terrible crime, plus, harassment of all kinds, leudness, & who knows what else. How about all the long standing business's going OUT of business. Entennmans, 300 jobs, been aroundRead More for 100 years but now Cuomo is pushing how great NY is to do business in? BULL! We are taxed to death, giving a new business 10 years tax free and all those housing developments like Wyandanch Rising a FORTY YEAR tax abatement? That burden falls on the existing business's/homeowners that are now being pushed out. Yankee Peddler is one, been here forever and now some used furniture store took it's place. What are these things they are so proud of? Egifter? Launch Pads? More reasons to go online and not shop local? Nice way to really help the private small owned business's on Long Island file bankruptcy quicker so they can move to another state! There's your brain drain. YOU CAUSED IT!
Linda Otta April 23, 2014 at 03:57 pm
I just looked up egifter. It's a website. How many people locally does that employ? ZERO. It is anRead More impersonal way to send a gift card to someone you don't care enough to get off your butt and go to the store and pick them out something nice. Smoke N Mirrors. They aren't doing crap for you but another "luncheon" for themselves, congratulating themselves for being masters of the pretend Universe they live in. It's getting old fellas. Real old.
Linda Otta April 23, 2014 at 04:02 pm
Launchpad, another stupid idea. A business that makes "business's". That idea soundRead More familiar? Because it is. The Business Incubator was the first non successful launch of such an idea and then Mark Mayoka started the business Launch Up idea in a Town Hall Room on the 3rd floor that Susan Berland previously used to have Town employees make phone calls (on town time) to get her reelected. They gave that room to Mr Mayoka to shut him up when he stumbled across the makeshift re-election center. All these things they are talking about are basically widgets. I wonder how much Federal Money they got in grants to do absolutely nothing but get jobs for people who campaign for their re-election bids
