Dix Hill Man, 2 Kids Hospitalized After Car Crash in Huntington

Huntington man also involved in the 2-car crash had serious injuries.

A Dix Hills man and his two children were sent to the hospital after the minivan they were driving in was involved in a car crash in Huntington on Wednesday morning.

According to police, at 8:24 a.m. Thomas Depalo, of Dix Hills, was driving a 2009 Chrysler minivan north on Park Avenue. When he attempted to make a left turn onto Jericho Turnpike he hit a 2008 Volkswagen heading in the other direction on Park Avenue.

The driver of the Volkswagen, Nathaniel Eikenes, 22, of Huntington, was taken to Huntington Hospital with serious injuries. Depalo, 37, and his two children, ages 4 and 7, who were passengers in the minivan, were treated and released from Huntington Hospital.

Traffic was backed up along Park Avenue as far north as the Dix Hills Road intersection for more than an hour.
